4IR: RADAR

Objectives:

• To raise awareness of the 4IR – the challenges and opportunities it presents – within and outside the key stakeholder communities – industry, policy makers, academia and related stakeholders.

• To facilitate:

• • The development of a political economy view on the 4IR with emphasis on its drivers, impacts, distribution of the burdens of adjustment and sources of resistance to it.
  • The development of comparative assessment of countries’ and regions’ positions and needs both across  the EU and globally in the 4IR.
  • The development of a comparative view of existing measures in support of the 4IR with emphasis on  approaches to skills development, migration, business model change, clusters, cross-border collaboration programs for enterprises, cybersecurity and standards.
  • The development of a comparative view of identified gaps at EU and Member State level and monitoring of latest developments.
  • The identification of areas in need of research and support for SMEs.
  • The identification of cross-country and cross-region collaboration opportunities in the 4IR, e.g., sharing best practices, developing joint initiatives (e.g., for specific sectors).
  • The identification of opportunities for working with European institutions such as ERDF and ESF and the Horizon 2020 framework.

• To organize fora and platforms for stakeholders to become involved, fine-tune benchmark criteria and exchange best practices, including the chambers of industry, research institutions, etc.
